“Where do I go? What do I bring? Is there a bathroom on the boat? Can I bring drinks? What should I wear? Is it safe? Is there drinkable water? What about music? What else didn’t I think of?!?”
Below you’ll find all the answers. Well, some of them. If it’s not answered here, call or email and we’ll help you out.
Where
All sails leave from either:
Pier 1.5 in San Francisco (Ferry Building)
Public Dock in Oakland (Jack London Square)
Attire
Dress in layers, wear sunscreen, bring a water bottle and any snacks and drinks you want–you know the drill! Costumes and cute fitters strongly encouraged. We’ve got some fabulous full body colorful ski suits on board to keep you warm, so you’ll be well taken care of πΒ Footwear–don’t wear fancy polished shoes that are going to leave ugly black streaks all over the boat or you will be keelhauled. Or just leave your shoes on the dock. π
Last word on attire–if you know you and your party want a more adventurous sail (sailing hard into the wind), then bring 100% waterproof foul weather gear. When tacking upwind we do catch spray over the bow and you WILL get soaked if you want to sail the boat hard! For those who want to take it easy, we can always sail off the wind and plan a dry itinerary.
Music
The boat has a bluetooth sound system and basic phone charging capacity. Pump up the jams!!! Playlists strongly encouraged. We can also just put “Brandy” on repeat and call it good.
Food & Libations
There is potable water aboard and a refrigerator to keep things cool as well as a stove and a bbq for cooking. Feel free to bring any beer wine or liquor you want and if you want ice for cocktails bring that as well. If you’d like us to arrange the food and drink let us know your preferences and budget and we’ll stock the boat for you.
Bathroom
There is a marine head on board for all your needs.
Seasickness
For those who have a history of getting seasick, we recommend Bonine which is a non-drowsy version of dramamine. Be sure to take it in the morning before you get on the boat so it has time to kick in–taking it once on the boat is often much less effective. If you’re medication-averse, there are pressure-point bracelets you can wear that may help. There are also some herbal patches on the market that may be effective for some people. If you’re VERY susceptible to motion sickness, AND you’re committed to coming sailing (what a champ!) then you can ask your doctor about a scopolamine prescription patch.
Safety
Fear not–safety is our #1 concern. No one is having any fun if they’re injured, and if we were to sink the boat then the party would be definitively permanently over and done. No one wants that! I am a licensed captain with 15+ years of experience keeping everyone safe on the water — from very young children to adults acting like very young children.
Rescheduling due to weather
We’re happy to sail rain or shine, but if it’s looking like an all day rainy suffer fest we can reschedule your sail with no charge. Also if it’s so gnarly out there that the conditions are actually unsafe (very high winds) then I’ll make that call and reschedule at no charge. If it’s looking like very light intermittent drizzle, cloudy, and/or overcast we’ll go for it, but can reschedule at your request. There’s a $50 reschedule fee for those with “cold feet” which protects us from too much loss due to fair weather sailors.
